Plamp (uit)

In the montly magazine “M” of our newspaper NRC, we found a short article about the “plamp”, half plant and half lamp. Instructions (pdf) to make one yourself can be found online. And so Nienke took up a sunday afternoon to make a living lamp for our home. And this is the result!

It does look like a bit of a fire hazard to me. I also wonder whether Ivy needs real daylight. But that aside… I am fascinated!
Can you keep a regular update on the health and happyness of your plamp? If it does catch fire, explode or mutates into a tapdancing green man, all the more interesting.
    Good work, Nienke :)

Well, I can report it still hasn’t caught fire! I think it’s not very likely that it will, since we use an energy-efficient lightbulb. The plamp does seem to be growing, though. It’s not too far from the window, that probably helps a lot. Let’s hope it doesn’t grow itself into electrocution! — Mathijs
